The Dominicans symbol is a dog with a torch in its mouth, which was a vision had by Blessed Joan, the mother of her soon to be son, while pregnant. There are tales that Dominic brought deserving people back to life, and he once met a beggar, whom he'd had a vision of prior to meeting, who also did noble things for the Faith. The beggar was actually Saint Francis of Assisi.
