Saint John the Baptist is often given the title of 'Father of Modern Education'. He was born to a wealthy family and dedicated his life to helping the deprived and ignorant people of his town. He used his money to open schools for all boys, wealthy or not. Liquidating his personal belongings, he helped feed the poor during the great famine of 1683Ð1684.
