The day commemorates the Blessed Virgin Mary's birth - nine months after her Immaculate Conception. A Thanksgiving meal is created for Her. French winemakers call it the feast 'Our Lady of the Grape Harvest' as Mary has also been the protectress of plants, including grapes.
