Hubert was a passionate hunter. While hunting on Good Friday, he received a vision of a crucifix between a stag's antlers . After the death of his wife, he became fully committed to converting to Christianity. Hubert handed over the care of his son to his Brother, and studied to become a priest. Hubert embraced ethical hunting behavior, holding animals in a higher regard as God's creatures. He was known for converting pagans, and strengthening Christians.
